Speed School

The 4-week Speed School at the Athletic Academy is our flagship offering and caters to those athletes who want more than the status quo in training. We recognize the importance in developing sound mehcanics in athletes for the sake of generating movement patterns that fit the way our bodies were made to move. This allows you to play the game at your personal best ability and reduces the chances of you getting injured. Most great athletes have never been taught the proper way to run or jump. They are taught the sport skills necessary to do well, but they play without ever reaching their full athletic potential.

Our coaches focus on a progression that tests your athletic potential using Nike SPARQ certified assessment methods to set your baseline training program. We then train our athletes in a customized environment that teaches them a wide base of fundamental movement patterns ensuring they evolve their game. Over the 4 weeks you will become a better athlete, with more efficient movement, and more confidence in your abilities. By the end we have pushed you through enough complex and dynamic training exercises that you will discover dramatic changes in your post training assessments.

You will have learned to run faster, jump higher, react quicker, and play longer. We won't make you better at your sport, that it is up to you, but we will make you a better athlete.

Why the focus on Speed?

We all know that in our society speed is king. Speed is why we have the internet, video on demand, and pay at the pump. Whether it is the most important factor in sport performance, it is the common denominator and the equalizer. We can take fast athletes and turn them into great ball players. A fast team can equalize the skill of a better opponent. Honestly, the reason the SEC turned OSU inside out two years in a row in the BCS Championship game has a lot to do with speed.

We also know that fast athletes also get the rest sooner or later. Great speed leads to great vertical leaps and great agility. Great speed leads to better game play.

More importantly, great speed leads to many more great things. Fast athletes play with more confidence and confidence unlocks many doors to success. Work ethic, commitment, courage, discipline, focus are all attributes that can be derived from confidence.

To quote Joe Namath: "When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have fun, you can do amazing things."
